Walka upgrades are only available at MC branches.

All Walka 7's in the market have the latest firmware, the available firmware upgrade is for the old Walka, it is available at Multichoice branches.

Only in Randburg or also agencies like the one in Menlyn (Pretoria)? If not, can it not somehow be made availabe there?

You trust them? You can take Gautrain to Sandton grab the Randburg bus and get to MC offices, catch bus back for R1 till end Jan and 160km/h back to Pta, quicker than the queue at Menlyn and not the best centre

Yup, you can view widescreen channels in 16:9 format (with black bars at the top and bottom since the Walka screen is not widescreen) and not squashed into 4:3.
