Default DSTV Drifta - notebook not connecting

Hi, Sorry if this is a duplicate - I searched the forum for a similar post but without luck.

Can anyone help - I am unable to connect my drifta via the usb connection - it will only operate if I connect to it wirelessly, which kinda kills my total connection.

I am not using the original usb cable, could that be the cause?

Any ideas would be useful, many thanks.

Hi Craigtoys and welcome to the forum,

Have you tried resetting the Drifta and then try to reconnect via USB?
Any reason why you are not using the original cable? I use another cable at my office sometimes (the same cable I use for a HTC phone and Garmin GPS) so I don't think that's your problem.

Try reset the Drifta on the right side with a paper clip. Also ensure the USB port is working have the latest software installed

Thanks for the welcome,

I have the latest software installed, I am using a usb cable that I have - it could be the original one but you know how it goes, there are milions of them around the house so I used what is closest. i have tried various ones though.

Still no luck even after resetting a few times...

Have you tried a different USB port? Does it detect the Drifta at all (check under device manager)? Any chance of testing it on another PC as a process of elimination?

Also check that the device is not blocked by an anti-virus program. Some of the fancy onces can be set up to block new attached USB devices.

I'm running out of ideas, sorry. Will post here if I can think of anything else.

Try to track down another USB cable. If it's new, get it swapped.

You can also try the dedicated DStvMobile forum.
