Default New Software on the Explora (STICKY!!!)

Hi All

Sorry for the delay in posting this but we all seem to be experiencing some sort of gremlin with forum posts. I also cant seem to post a sticky right now but need to tell you about the software:

We've updated software on the DStv Explora and DStv Explora 2 and enhanced your viewing experience! We want to make it easier for you to find the great content we offer!

The new software includes changes to your experience on Catch Up and fixes for some known issues.

Fixes for some known issues

• Settings:
1. Support of “special characters” on the username text
field in the DStv Connectivity set-up
• Performance:
1. The box freezes when “fast forwarding” smart-ads
2. Showmax content not playing back even though “play” icon
displayed on the screen
3. Decoder not displaying Catch Up titles when box is
connected

CHANGES TO CATCH UP:

1. The RECOMMENDED tab is changed to FEATURED
2. A new tab, CHANNELS has been added to Catch Up as a tab
after the FEATURED tab to help you find content easier
3. The “Connect for more Catch Up” banner is made visible from
all Catch Up screens
4. The FEATURED layout displays 6 posters instead of 5
5. The Channel Logo and Channel Number on which content was
originally broadcast has been added to the poster
6. The stack indicator (folder look) has been removed for
Catch Up, Playlist and Showmax
7. The NEWEST FIRST, LAST CHANCE and 1st EPISODE sort has been
dropped from the bottom filter row and we’ve added “Newest
and Oldest sort” to the sort order options in the OPTIONS
List
8. The currently applied sort order that you select from the
OPTIONS list as well as the currently applied selection of
which content to show (“All” or “Ready to Watch”) is now
displayed
9. The counter on the Event Row shows you the total number of
episodes that are in the stack and the number of new
(unwatched) episodes that are in the stack

Any queries - please shout!

Thanks

Thanks for this. Your team will no doubt be interested to find out feedback about the CU changes here: New Catch Up Layout

I would love this back for the Playlist, don't mind on the CU side.

I'm almost sure we always had a Newest and Oldest sort option but, irrespective, can you please advise what criteria is used for this sorting? Are titles sorted by Expiry Date or by Date Added since this makes quite a big difference - some titles are available for much longer than others.

I suspect sorting is by Date Added but I think there would be a need for both by some people. Sorting by Expiry Date will replace "Last chance" while sorting by Date Added will replace "Newest First" (which I think is the default sorting).

Hi MC
Will the tab last chance be made available again or even a sort by expiry date?

Our area has just had a power failure.
As a consequence - after powering up again I have just noticed the new "Harddrive Initialisation" notification instead of early access to one's Playlist & Catch Up (CU), etc. - much better MC, hopefully it's the end of related confusion with things like CU+ being loaded.

What I wasn't pleased to see again is the "Disk Full" notification when bringing up the i-Plate, PLEASE get rid of it again.

Afterthought:
This may not be normal as it did look like there could have been corruption problems caused by the power outage, if so it impressively recovered on the second reboot after about 12 minutes.
