Default eplora 2a - hd 4u - hd 4s - xtraview connections

I am helping a friend with his installation regarding 3 x xtraview.

All decoders using unicable ports of the slnb lmx501, primary (explora 2a) ub 0,1,2, secondary 4u ub 3, second secondary 4s ub 4.

Heartbeat is via rf ie, rf out from primary to rf out secondary, rf in from primary to rf out second secondary. I am not sure if this is right?

While attempting to activate, explora 2a paired smart card and activated, no problem. The secondary decoders paired smart cards with no problem, but stays on e16. Checking both of the secondary decoders shows that the heartbeat gets received.

My question is, are the ports used for the heartbeat correct or should it be wired from primary rf out to secondary rf in and from secondary rf out to second secondary rf out?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

This is not the normal way it's done.
HB will work on either port, but as far as using both ports for it goes for XV x 3, I don't recall a past example.
Nobody seems certain yet re how the "RF Transmit Port" setting actually works (what exactly is meant by "Transmit"), although Geoff may be more so but he's not around much for now.

So you could wait for MC Field Services, if he's currently around, or ask for a XV Specialist at the call centre, or rather use the more popular combining of all RF Out ports which also covers any RF distribution needs (you could see related threads for any needed details, I'm not able to help further at the moment).

Thanks for the reply Optimist.

Checked the decoders the following day and all are working fine with the configuration as mentioned. It seems the call center did not activate the single views properly.

I have not had much chanced to play around with one of these install yet. But what I tend to do is stick to a standard way of distributing HB and receiving HB. Always connected to the RF OUT ports, via a few ways depending on what is available.

(1) The best. use a 3 IN SLX splitter with all 3 connected to the RF OUT ports, then distribute RF to wherever you want to use it.

(2) Next best. A t-piece combining HB from two decoders into a 2 In 2 or 4 out SLX splitter, with the 3rd decoder connected to the other IN port on the SLX splitter.

(3) Next is 2 by 1 IN 2 or 4 out SLX splitters. Messy but it works.

Thanks for the reply Geoff d. Is there something that could go wrong with the method that I have used, as mentioned, it is working for now with no issues thus far.
