Hi meehi

Apologies for the hold up.

Hi all. A friend of mine has a android media player which had the same issue he even rooted the device to unroot it correctly. We got hold of the DSTV now app Devs and they were partially helpful but we managed to solve the issue ourselves.

In the device (so far I have seen it on android media boxes and in this case a car head unit) there are some SU binaries which are installed with the stock firmware and not by a user. These binaries are present even if the user does not root the device.

Root applications show there is no root because there isn't a root permission application like superSU installed but DSTV now does not only look for applications but also the SU binaries on the box.

To remove these binaries requires some know how because it is not simple to access the system.img to change these values. But once removed DSTV now works on the box 100% .

Out of interest, list the devices you have this issue with maybe I can make a tutorial on how to remove the files based on your device.

Hi Terminator. Try Installing the latest DStv now app (you may have to download the APK from an external source and install) and try again it should tell you exactly what root it is detecting

The root files are in the binaries. I tried several processes and nothing worked to remove it. Supersu is in the binaries
