Possibly you could tap a phone number for client care and the app will initiate the call?

Quite useful really.

Very droll, Simon!
But I'd like to see a comment from MC as to why this permission could possibly be needed.
Cheers, K.

Perfectly understandable on the phone version but the tablet version? neither of my iOS versions (iPhone and iPad) asked me if it could dial out

mine can, so I suppose someone was being pro-active. the fact that I block outgoing dialled calls is a sep issue.

OR

The programmers simply assume that tablets are the same as smart phones -----

I'm really not keen on apps that can make phone calls or send text messages, unless I've written them myself using App inventor. Great way for the lay man to develop Android apps!

Or ask if they can post via twitter or Facebook etc. no device should ever ask me anything. If I want said device to send Christmas cards for me I'm sure I would recall this odd request.

Agreed, I ALWAYS prevent any automatic actions takeen by APPS until I understand what the reasons and actions are likely to be. That may be why mostly the DSTV apps do not really work for me on my S3 and tablet ---
