Exclamation multiswitch

Hi. I want to know if a multi switch is essential for recording on a pvr or explora?

What IS essential on all the older decoders, is that every single LNB input on the decoder must be connected to an independent LNB port

IF you have a HD PVR 2P then it require 2 inputs. A HD PVR 4 tuner, it requires 4 inputs. A SD PVR requires 2 inputs.

You can't get any of the above decoders to work properly with a single LNB
The minimum required is a TWIN LNB, and the a Multiswitch becomes essential to provide addition connections. You can't use splitters either, only MS's.

The Explora is a different animal, it requires the use of its own "switch", OR, a SACTR LNB.

2P also works with a single SAT CR input on Tuner-1; have done this at my mate's house at the coast, with my own 2P.
LNB settings need to be adjusted accordingly in the Network Setup menu
(would imagine 2U would be the same but will need to have someone confirm)

Cheers, K.

SatCR unicable connects to the port marked 'LNB IN 1' on the 2U HDPVR

Correct, All the HD PVRs UEC 4T, HDPVR 4P, and the HDPVR 2P and 2U, have SATCR inputs as well. The ports used for SATCR are not consistently port 1 on all these decoders.

So SATCR LNBs will also work ( used to work).
