Re the earlier disbelief - read it again, it was your smartcard statement that I disputed and correctly, the decoder I was just unsure of until @TD mentioned the article.

And agreed, let's stick to the subject and sorry for my part in the derailment.

Constant is away from the office but I spoke to him on the phone. He said that we really are recommending that our customers rather use accredited installers who have been trained extensively to install these decoders - you may need an RF remod and a separate remote blaster, so not a straight-forard install.
Thanks Marietjie.
I'm not currently involved further with install assistance so no comment from me, but hope we'll get the detailed feedback when Constant & co. later can.

when connecting 4137 decoders in xtraview they will require an external diplexer when connectiong to any other decoder besides the explora 2a which also supports uniview.

There is no tv link support for the 4137 decoders , when using a Rf modulator you will need to get one that supports IR extenders or remote blasters.

Please note that uniview is only supported through the smart lnb and the smart switch 24-1Z switch.
i will add some diagrams in the morning

I'm not quite getting this yet.
I understand that as usual with HB via SLNB or 24-1Z, any other decoder involved other than the 2A will need its own external diplexer.
But are you saying that the 4137 itself then needs an external diplexer as well? Can see why - a different HB must be used (the original non-uniview type), but where would the diplexer's RF connections for that be connected to on the 4137 then?

In reverse as I posted in the other thread. The diplexer then combines an old style HB cable with the lnb signal into the single port on the 4137.

Ok, hadn't visualised this yet - got it now, thanks.
So, actually not possible to do away with the HB cable with a 4137 unless the 2A is involved - bit of a step backwards here, unless the 4136 is going to remain available from retail.
(I'll discuss more about this in the next post.)

You had actually mentioned it earlier in this thread, here's the other tech question still under debate from post #5;

@MC FS please can you confirm or expand on this, thanks.

@MC FS - only saw your diagrams after my last post - thanks, that makes things much clearer.

We still just need to know if a 4137 can or can't be a primary.

Back to the discussion about a 4137's HB options;
A good example of what's still on my mind is this 3-decoder XV config. - Explora 1 + Explora 2A + 4137.
1. I believe the 2A would need to be primary for best usage options, then it can control the 4137 without the need for a HB cable.
2. The Explora 1 should then be able to do without a HB cable as well as it can use an external diplexer for a non-uniview LNB HB connection to the 2A. As mentioned somewhere, the 2A can handle both types of LNB HB, presumably at the same time.

TIA
