No such thing, nor will there ever be. Through the years smartcards have been made to be more involved with decoders and are an intricate part of MC's security systems.
I suppose it's possible that they could one day make them just a part of the rest of the hardware and so unremovable and no longer a distinct object, but can't see that happening.

Out of interest, please give us the source of where this rumour has sprung from.

We've never heard of the 4137 5S, sounds like someone's joke but I'm sure MC will confirm if it is real next week.

No relation to the alternative "IUC number" system or such info there that I can see.
http://www.okfurniture.co.za/index.p...mhd4137-m.html

What I did come across elsewhere is a reference to this with MC's upcoming terrestrial GOtv service.
So then a different set of signals on a different mode of broadcast platform.
I couldn't determine if it involves the 5s / 5u or not.
It may or may not be for satellite usage as well.

If it is for satellite in any way, as suggested earlier it could be them including the tech as built in instead now. We'll have to wait to hear from MC next week unless someone knows more facts.
Thanks for bringing this up.

Thanks @TD.

Just as I thought;

"MultiChoice has revealed a new version of its DStv HD single-view decoder.
The new decoder is smaller and features an embedded smart card..."

So nothing more than a satellite version of the gotv decoder.
Wonder if it is actually a normal satellite decoder,a terrestrial DTT decoder and a satellite DTT decoder all rolled into one? Or at least the same in every respect except for what is activated?

Pretty thin on technical details as usual.
Price is about the same as the OVHD decoder which uses the same IUC technology.

Has 2 tuners ------?

No sign of the new decoders on the dstv.com website. ----

Have seen this Decoder at Ellies, same as new OVHD decoders. Only has 1 LNB in port, no RF ports for signal distribution. Has ethernet port, hdmi out and 3.5mm aux port to rca, adaptor cable included. Chose not to purchase. You will now need rf modulation for additional viewing points.

Very interesting further detail, thank you for posting this.

And the OP of this thread is now asking some important follow up questions in the Installation section: Dstv 4137 5s Inatallation
Hopefully MC will come to the party soon? - this is their product, which is already released, and this is their forum...

Also, a couple of us have heard rumours about a "4139" model, if true what's that about please?
