Did see elsewhere that somewhere in the country they had 25mm of rain. Hopefully a lot of that fell in their catchment areas. But, yes, the whole country is in need of rain. Lots of it.

It is raining in Cape Town this morning. Not all that heavy, but we'll take anything we can get given that it's getting to the end of our rainy season.

It is? Lots of clouds, some dark some not so dark, and no sunshine to speak of, but so far no rain in my area. Hopefully, it's still to come.

Can do with some of that Bloemfontein hail over our catchment areas. Going by the pictures that I've seen that was some hailstorm.

It's stopped now, but it was definitely raining in Maitland/Salt River/Observatory as I drove to work. Of course, the key thing is whether any of that rain was over the catchment areas.

How much water is there in a typical hailstorm? They generally don't last all that long, so they might not yield as much as a lengthier period of rain does.

Ah so you were in an area near to the mountains hence the rain. Unfortunately I don't think we've had much rain, if any, in our Northern Suburbs areas.

As to the comment about a nice continuous rainfall, I'll agree that a decent soaking rain would be most welcome. But have you seen photos of the hail in the Bloemfontein area? Looked like a heavy snowfall in some areas.
