Exclamation Catch-Up & Box Office Items - Missing!

I have posted this on the DSTV Explora thread as well - ALL Catch Up and Box Office titles have simply disappeared with the message "No DSTV / Box Office items found" - avoid buying this decoder if you can, it's got more bugs than the Amazon jungle and offers you so much less!

Hi Kylie,

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your Explora. I promise it offers you a LOT more than you've ever had on previous PVRs. Let's see if we can sort out your issue.

Can you answer a few questions for me so that I can try and help you:

- Is this a new Explora? (i.e. how long ago did you have it installed?)
- Did you have Catch Up and BoxOffice available on your Explora previously?
- Have you checked to make sure that your installation is correct (i.e. is your signal QUALITY >90%)? To check this, press the BLUE DSTV button, then scroll RIGHT until you reach SETTINGS. Press OK and scroll down to SATELLITE SETTINGS. Press OK and scroll down to HOME NETWORK. Press OK and scroll through Tuner 1, Tuner 2 and Tuner 3. There should be three blue bars indicating signal strength and quality.
- Have you tried rebooting your Explora? (Hold the power button on your remote down for a few seconds to reboot).

Let me know.

MC Nic.

Bought the decoder two months ago
Catch Up and Box Office worked perfectly until yesterday
Signal strength and quality seems OK (can't see the percentages)
Did reboot, took out the smart card and re-connected the LNB cable

It has now downloaded 22 series items, 12 sports items, and 11 movies.

This will probably take at LEAST 15 hours to download so it must still have been on the Explora.

no doubt in my mind. the problem was probably associated with a glitch in your service activation/ SC synchronisation and nothing to do with the install.

Box Office and Catchup content is date/time based and set to expire. If the decoder looses the time or has an unclean boot (like a power failure) can cause the date/time to be out and will expire (remove the content). This is a possibility of what happened.

But then recordings will not come back in such a rush ---- It takes time for the downloads to happen ........

Explora uses a completely different system for BO content and has greater bandwidth. I recall that SDPVR is recorded in real-time where Explora is a fraction of that. You can do 150hours in about 24 hours
