Explora's and HD pvrs must always be primary in xtraview, HD5 can be set to primary in any other combination.
In Xtraview 3 the primary decoder sends out a heartbeat signal which both secondary decoders recieve, this can be via the lnb cable or RF ports from the primary decoder - Explora 2 is recommended
It is recommend that the explora 2 will always be primary even if there is a explora 1 in the combination, as explora 1 only sends the heatbeat out of the rf ports.

Before anyone can help you you need to detail your setup or plans - which other decoders if any, and if so are decoders in the same or different rooms, independent or shared viewing across the rooms.
Also mention if there's specific questions you have in mind.

Check what the default user band and frequencies are for the two tuners.
Keep the primary on the defaults and change the secondary to use any two others.

So if user bands 0,1 are the defaults, change the secondary decoder to use 2,3.

And the correct frequencies that go with those user band Indexes will be in the booklet that came with your Smart LNB (SLNB), or you can see this post for them: http://forum.dstv.com/showpost.php?p=337714&postcount=3

Also it's best to set both Indexes first, then do both the frequencies.

These settings are probably found in a menu section that's called this: Settings \ Satellite Settings \ Home Network

If still faulty this morning, and you have tried turning off the power for a while, it sounds like it has developed a permanent fault - you could take it back to the supplier, may still be replaceable. Else take it to a MC service centre, they could at least test it but would charge for a replacement if there's no insurance.

I am not available to assist further, all the best with it.

Will be interesting to see what the replacement charge is for a 399 rand decoder.
