Default Pace 4 Tuner PVR

When I was in the Randburg centre the other day, the lady that helped me with my SDPVR said that the Pace PVR is EOL and can be swopped out for a new explora.

The website does not indicate this so which one is correct?

So far, it is only the UEC 4 tuner PVR that is on the list of EOS decoders.

Hi there, we do not have any decoders in end of life, only in end of support. More information about end of support here:https://www.dstv.com/topic/dstv-deco...cycle-20150401

If your decoder that is in end of support breaks, and you have decoder insurance, we will replace it with an Explora free of charge as per the conditions of your insurance.

If you do not have decoder insurance, then you can trade in your current working end of support decoder for various discounts (see the website above). If your decoder is broken, then the trade-in also applies.

My apologies that you were given the incorrect information - no such things as end of life and you cannot trade in your decoder for free for a new Explora (unless it is broken and you have insurance).

One "exception" of sorts that perhaps needs further discussion... now that the SD PVR units can no longer be set up new (transfer of ownership or replacement with a second hand unit), some would consider that End Of Life (EOL).

Not true IMO, EOL means can't be used anymore at all. So like MC I still see that as EOS (Support), but a further stage of it.
In a way it's the same boat as with the Select Packages and terrestrial M-Net, and they have kept going for years for the lucky few still with that.

EDIT: It turns out that the above is not currently an issue after all, see MC Marietjie's next post.

Sorry MoM

EOL should have been EOS in my post.

@Geoff - there is some good news for you today. So sometime ago, we were talking about not allowing new SD PVRs to be activated and I had assumed it has been done. This is not yet the case, so for a little while at least, you can still activate an SDPVR on your account (although of course we think it is time to upgrade to HD viewing and the experience on an Explora).

Death and resurrection of the SD-PVR ... it's that time of the year, isn't it
