Default SuperSport gets SKY SPORTS Formula 1 Coverage

Extract from article

"As Formula 1 evolves, so does SuperSport with confirmation this week that viewers will get to enjoy the expert analysis and commentary provided by Sky Sports’ world-class team.

The deal includes broadcasting the Sky Sports race build-ups which feature some of the most acute minds in motorsport.

In recent days, chief technical boss Pat Symonds, who spent three years at the helm of Williams’ technical team, joined the commentary line-up, ensuring viewers understand the mechanics of racing at elite level.

Symonds comes equipped with massive expertise. He won four world drivers’ titles with Michael Schumacher and Fernando Alonso, and three constructors’ titles.

SuperSport will now tap into a formidable commentary team that also includes former world champion Damon Hill, Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert, Simon Lazenby and Natalie Pinkham.

“Sky Sports’ innovation and quality has always impressed me,” said Gideon Khobane, CEO of SuperSport. “It’s the perfect time to integrate our Formula 1 presentation given how vibrant and exciting the recent season was. Few sports look as good as F1 in High Definition, so there’s plenty to look forward to.”

Apart from the race action, every practice and qualifying session will be broadcast live on the World of Champions.

Well done to Gideon and his team! This is great news.

@Sandile, Just to clarify the commentary will no longer be the world's feed but Sky's as suggested right. It sounds like this is it but you never know with territories.

This is fantastic news! We really missed Martin Brundle's iconic F1 voice. Could your actions attractions guys break up the build-up from the actual races like you normally do for the Premier League?

Step in the right direction. This is 2 good news from SS in a week after a series of rather disappointing news...

High five!

I love the sky team and watched them exclusively last year. I hope this encompasses the whole package (FP, Pre-Quali, Quali, Post Quali, Pre race, Race, Post Race)

Especially Ted's notebook!!!

BREAKING NEWS
===============

Here's the breakdown of the new features of the F1 coverage on every Grand Prix Week-end:

Track Parade
: Length 30 mins

The build-up to the Grand Prix with a review of the qualifying session and interviews with drivers ahead of the race.

Pit Lane Live: Length 30 mins
Simon Lazenby and the team present live from the pit lane as they preview the race.

The Race : Length 180 mins (3 hours)

The actual Grand Prix Race.

Paddock Live: Length 40 mins

The latest from the Formula 1 paddock following the race.

@SS Sandile, can you get the scheduling guys to look into breaking this down on the TV Guide ASAP? Different folks will want to record different parts of the Grand Prix coverage...

Recorded Practice 1 and 2 and watched it during the day. Pit lane live and all the trimmings. Just Magic. The relaxed pit lane restrictions for the TV crews helped to bring coverage never seen before.

The only criticism I have is during practice 1 the drivers time standings was missing so you never really know who was top of the time sheet. In practice 2 it appeared after some time and on odd occasions it went missing again.

All in all 100% improvement
