I think, by now, that you guys all know my opinion on this.

The solution was whole home DVR. Everything that Kevin mentioned was available years ago in the rest of the world. This XtraKludge that MC keeps pushing is decades old technology. Once you've used a whole home solution where you can begin watching in one room and continue in another without bothering another person in a third and you'll realise just how backward we are.

One, powerful, device with multiple tuners, built in connectivity (ethernet/wireless) and thin clients is the way forward.

Of course, understanding the South African market, the other device would be a broadband enabled simple decoder. Almost like the current HD decoder, but with a small memory for buffering streamable content.

In case you're wondering what I'm talking about, the Dish Network is onto version 3 of the Hopper.

Hopper 3 DVR

While we're still on Version 1.5 of the decades old XtraKludge.
