Smile 197 now another SuperSport overflow channel

I see on channel 197's i-Plate that it will be used for SS overflow content this Saturday.

Very nice, more flexibility. Which of 197, 198 & 199 is used would seem to depend on other usage of these Event channels at any given time.

Maybe it's time for SS10 & SS11 - even if they are not full time channels

They can't use SS11 - that already exists for other countries' smaller packages (but it's just less of the same content that's on other channels).

Maybe SS9+

But other countries have a (different) M-Net as well don't they? If so then duplicate channels names should be doable? Not sure how it works or whether it is only doable if on different satellites?

I don't think that's possible, they'd probably need to reorganise ch. nos.
The other countries with different M-Nets are only on the other African satellite, and if I remember correctly the "West" & "East" versions are kept in different bouquets.

Aah ok - makes sense....

It's just a bit less than ideal for me to have sport channels below 200 - I often switch to 201 and then scroll upward to see what is on... only to forget about the surplus options....

Good point.

I just wonder why can't these pop-up channels be in HD? They are temp anyway and surely there should be some bandwidth for them on the current satellite?
