Question Is DStv now truly international, or planning to be?

I've heard that Carte Blanch is thought highly of internationaly, but can't think who anywhere beyond S.A. would be generally interested in its mostly local content, unless it's just the odd, more general interest articles that are being distributed.

Is there more to this though?
I've seen that a few, mostly SuperSport channels are now available(?) again on an extremely wide beam on the older C band system via PAS10 throughout Africa, and that this beam stretches across all of Europe, much of Asia & quite a lot of Australia as well.

What else could this extra beam be for? Temporary feeds perhaps?
So, are there existing / future plans for beyond-Africa expansion? Can you maybe tell us anything about this MC?

C Band has been switched off in about May this year.
Carte Blanche has many inserts which would interest an international market, yes some local content, esp the consumer stuff wouldn't but you can be selective of what you sell on.

Yes it was switched off in May, not aware that it is back on again ---- maybe now that the FIFA Mafia is again out of the picture, MC have been given the go-ahead to re-instate the service??

I can safely say I was on the roof of MC yesterday where all the equipment is and the CBand racks have been removed, ain't going to be back online.

Now that would be a bit difficult I agree --------------

but of course they could be uplinking via another sub-contracted uplink station elsewhere -------, SENTECH, TELKOM, VODACOM, OVERSEAS ??

Which brings me back to my original question; why the partial C band transmissions again MC?

Here's an interesting discovery re this topic;

On Supersport's online streaming registration page
(http)://www.supersport.com/register.aspx?view=full
(ignore brackets in red)
have a look at the countries listed in the "Country of DStv Subscription" field....

Haven't found anything re subscribing in out-of-Africa countries though.

Come on MC, surely it's not a secret? Just interested.
