Thanks for the feedback re. the potential switch issues. The issue has since changed, now 101 does not work but the Mnet Movie channels (which were broken previously) are working.

I have an installer coming out to have a look this afternoon.

I've also attached an image of the switch and cabling - it gets really hot in there, thats why I was asking about potential overheating issues. My switch is behind the multi-switch...

Aaargh! What an absolute disgrace! My 6 year old grandson could have done a better job! No wonder you have problems! The problem is a cabling one! What would be far better is if 4 cables were run from the switch into your unit and you have your 24-1Z or Explora switch installed in your own apartment under your direct control instead of that mess!

My sidecutter would be moving on its own to sort out that mess!

get the BC to fire the support company responsible for such a disgraceful job. Any idea if they are MC accredited?

Are those RG6 cables or the cheaper more flexible cables made from RG59 cable??

And that 24-1Z in the front? Who is using that? I presume there is only a single view decoder connected to that switch plus one Unicable connection? the only positive I see there is all the switches seem to have power!

So is your switch an Explora switch?

You have no idea...

The installer came through this afternoon and fixed my issue. It turns out that the 'nanas who created this mess when upgrading the communal dishes came back to install an Explora for my neighbour.
In the process they wired my Explora into another units multiswitch!! (The black unit on the bottom left). This was obviously causing a conflict which would explain why the missing channels would change from one day to the next.

To answer your other questions:
* I'm not sure if they are accredited but I'm keen to find out now! How can I check?
* I believe they are RG6 cables
* The 24-1Z in front is another units - my 24-1Z is hiding behind the multiswitch

Possibly the way out is for your to send the details via a PM to Multichoice so they can investigate and take action.

No one should be allowed to remain in business if that is the quality of the work they deliver.

Not deliberately maybe? but certainly by mistake. Imagine the confusion between the decoders trying to decide which HB to listen to!

That is another reason why the distribution should NOT lead to the installation of Multiswitches and ES's in a common DB box!

The right answer in this case is 4 cables into each unit!
