Here is a further update:

The requested driver changes were implemented by the manufacturer. The team then ran tests on the software. Unfortunately the problem was still reproducible with the driver changes. The team has requested that the manufacturer run further checks to ensure that the changes are taking full effect. Further optimization may be required in this area.

The investigation will continue.

Thanks for the update. I assume here that you are referring to the reboots caused by the use of the interactive applications? Sport and news apps on channel ....... 180?

This is not just about reboots caused by interactive applications - that is one of the causes. This investigation is about eliminating all of the causes.

Update from the team working on the investigation:

The manufacturer has confirmed that the changes which were implemented are not taking effect. They are investigating why the changes are not taking effect and will check what further code changes will be required.

The team is looking at what other areas can be optimized in order to improve the performance of the software to alleviate this probblem.

The investigation will continue.

Ironically just went back to my inbox and saw a new email in there from our technical team:

The development has been slow but is ongoing.

This is where we are:
- The optimisation changes implemented have not helped resolve the problem.
- The team was investigating the data rates for smartcard communication. The changes to modify the communication rate did not take effect. The manufacturer is currently engaging with the chip manufacturer to help investigate why this change is not taking effect.
- Another investigation the team is doing is splitting the application into two apps (one for News and one for Weather). This is a significant change as it is an architectural change in the design of the application. This is currently in progress. Once the News app is running we will do tests to see if the reboot issue is reproducible. The same will be done when the Weather app is ready.
