Question Feedback on closedown of M-Edge

@Mods - please can we have a poll about the closedown of M-Edge.
Please feel free to adjust the title of this thread to something more fitting for that.

It's been long enough IMO, let's see what we all think of the change. It will be especially interesting to see if any of those who prefer not to post comment like anything about the change.

My suggestions for this:
  • Anonymous (preferred in order to get more results, not essential IMO)
  • Single choice only
Choices:
  • I find only negative value in the way M-Edge was combined with M-Net
  • There are a few advantages
  • It doesn't matter to me
  • There are a lot of advantages
  • It's a great change
Comments posted should be kept polite and considerate of others' opinions.
Our poll will not necessarily be of any meaning in the bigger picture that MC & M-Net are examining, nor likely to influence policy but it will help to make our opinions known.

And now Vuzu Amp has cancelled V Entertainment in a move that seems the channel desperately needs to free space to air the large amount of content that is now allocated to it. These channels are under pressure and don't provide for nice and convenient viewing

If we do get it I think this will be a test case - then we need to keep things civil people... please. Let's not shoot ourselves in our own foot

Folks while I hear your views, we cannot create a poll as this is not open for debate. There is no option that we will add M-Net Edge again. So creating a poll will create expectations that something will be done and this is not a possibility.

Speaking for myself;
Understood, certainly quite a few series-specific channels have come and gone.
Maybe another new one can come about, worth an "influence" in that direction IMO but then done with different wording. Maybe still too early.

That's all I want to add.

So we don't need a poll to discuss it

"I find only negative value in the way M-Edge was combined with M-Net"

The single benefit at the time to me was no more clashing of some of my favourite programs, thus having to revert to recording on both my 4P and Explora in case CatchUp didn't .

I would still like to know the reasons behind the closure. It's not like there was a lack of content.

That is the only benefit I can find as well - all the rest are negatives as far as I am concerned. All of this has been pointed out and confirmed by various posts over the last couple of weeks.

And these are just some reasons I can think of right now:
  • Less new content (despite what MC is saying/believing) - can be seen by the long waiting periods for some seasons such as Elementary)
  • Late night prime time is (for most people) not prime time, it is sleep time
  • New episodes/shows premiering after midnight, sometimes finishing after 02h00am (no comments yet from MC)
  • Less choice - if the night is filled with 3 different series of NCIS back-to-back and I am not a fan of the franchise then I no longer have a 2nd M-Net channel to tune to for alternative shows
  • With the majority of M-Net shows that I personally watch having been on M-Net Edge, I find that on many nights there are nothing on M-Net that I want t watch until well after 21h00

It was a dark and stormy night.
(But because his installation was sound, his DStv reception was perfect.)

I'm running 4 decoders and still experience conflicts since the demise of Edge, 'nuff said

A poll is of no value as this forum isn't exactly representative of the subscriber Base.
