One month after introducing new channels and additional HD channels onto the DStv platform, DStv is once again adding more value to its Compact and Premium customers. On 13 November 2013, DStv Compact and Premium customers will have more channels added to their packages.

DStv Premium customers will get seven additional channels - three music channels, a martial arts channel and three community-based channels. The music channels include VH1 Classic, which will replace the current VH1 on channel 323, KykNet Musiek (channel 146) and Mzansi Music (channel 321). The martial arts channel is Blackbelt TV (channel 129) and the community-based channels are Bay TV (channel 260), 1 KZN (channel 261) and Dumisa (channel 340)

“We are excited with these new additions. We believe they will add more value to our packages and give our customers more variety in entertainment. This is about creating the best experience for our customers,” said Collins Khumalo, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa.

“The addition of the three community-based channels and the two additional local music channels aims to provide our customers with a rich diversity of local content and forms part of our ongoing support of the development of the local television industry.” added Khumalo.

Awesome!

Why couldn't VH1 Classics be added in addition to normal VH1 though?

Which of these are in widescreen?

A real music channel, brilliant

is Nat Geo Wild new? EDIT - ok ok i get it new for Compact

I think that the content on MTV Trace and VH1 besides MTV's reality stuff was fairly similar maybe that why they decided to drop the normal VH1?

To MoM and MC Thami and everyone else, Thank for listening to us old and sometimes cranky rockers

Oh, Edit 2

Well done on keeping VH1 Classic off the radar, We knew about the rest just not the exact dates

I'm not happy Most of the new channels is low-class for DStv. We had VH-1 to listen come current music, now we have VH-1 Classic . We used to had MTV, now that also. TRACE URBAN is showing more urban music, and the sound quality of the channel is bad.

Please add great international channels like MTV Music, MTV Dance and MTV Rock with the latest music videos.

That Blackbelt TV and three local channels is nothing special for premium users. It's more a upgrade for DStv Compact subscribers.

Please give us channels like NatGeo Music, Discovery Science, Syfy and other popular channels.

OR RATHER ONE M-NET SERIES HD

VH-1 isn't a new channel, more like a replacement throwing VH-1 away. Mzanzi Music is going on channel 321 which was MTV's spot. If we get proper music channels from MTV in the future will they go in the back after Afro Music?

Otherwise they must start music by channel 315. Your genres still doesn't work out for more channels.

Even Mzanzi Music is with the music channels, and not by the local channels like kykNET Musiek. Why not have kykNET Musiek also at the music channels? Near MK

Great that we have VH1-Classic Suits my taste in Music.

I'm sure that some people (not me) will be miffed that regular VH1 has been removed.

Also I've seen elsewhere requests for martial arts programmes. Those folks should also be happy.

Thanks for listening MC Cheers, K.
