Ah. That would make more sense. Thanks. Will need to read the competition rules again.

I'm guessing that the bulk on the Top 10 will consist on pre-1960s films. (Casablanca, Gone with the Wind, Citizen Kane etc.) Wondering if any war films might make it. Zulu might be a bit contentious, but what about Bridge on the River Kwai ? I haven't checked the entire list so not too sure if Goldfinger, Chariots of Fire and 2001 A space oddessy have made it.

Here goes nothing. My list of the top ten, in no particular order, that I'm thinking will be shown. Not MY personal top ten:

Apocalypse Now
2001 A Space Odyssey
The Third Man
Braveheart (Only because it appears as a slide in the adverts)
Dark Knight
Forrest Gump
Gone With The Wind
Star Wars
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest
The Shawshank Redemption.

Titanic? Schindler's List? The Searchers? The list is endless. And that's just me.

Pretty amazing lineup today:
15:00 Kramer vs Kramer
16:50 Rocky
18:50 Raiders of the Lost Ark
20:44 Se7en
22:49 Aliens
01:05 Easy Rider
02:40 Goodfellas

Might be tough to go back to regular movie channels after this sort of diet! Luckily I had a lot of free space on my Explora...

Maybe it's just sentimental, but I'm surprised Out of Africa isn't up there. It might be a bit too "pedestrian" for some viewers, but the cinematography and soundtrack are truly beautiful. There was a film called Baghdad Café which probably wouldn't even make the top 1000, but was equally visually awesome and had the most haunting soundtrack. I bought a DVD of it at Schipol airport in Amsterdam one year, and I still count it amongst my favourite top 20.

Also love it and own the DVD. Very much Cinema Nouveau though with limited appeal I guess.

I also enjoyed Out of Africa. The English Patient was another with beautiful, scenic shots. Guess it just shows how hard it is narrowing things down to a top 100.

I'll be interested to see if Star Wars is in the top 10. Lucasfilm was famously protective of the rights, so you didn't often see those movies on regular movie channels - unless a new Star Wars movie was coming out and they wanted to build hype. Disney seems to be continuing the pattern since buying the franchise. But it is the time of year when a new Star Wars is coming out so perhaps they gave the green light.

Well the top 10 movies are still secret on the EPG, apart from the bonuses/repeats during the week, eg: 2001 A Space Odyssey is on in the early hours of Monday. But from the time slots it's clear that number 1 and 2 are long 3/3+ hours epics. I'm guessing Titanic is number 2... will still have to think on 1, maybe Sound of Music.

They've accidentally put #8 on CU+ too early today - the listing's details itself give nothing away, but since they want to keep making such silly mistakes I downloaded the beginning to see what it is
