I don't like doing this, but if our arguments aren't sound enough then they won't help the cause.
We'll have to also consider the other channels that were since added, mostly the new eMovie channels.

Even if the EPG capacity problem is not as serious and they're perhaps taking earlier precautions, it's still the problem we're having to face.
And the only way I can see to solve it is simple - get rid of individually undesired channel details, such as the African Magic channels for probably all contributing on the forum... but the challenge is how to find a practical, easy-for-users and easy-design way to do that.

All we are asking for is a factual explanation and then either a solution to the problem or a statement that says it can't be fixed anymore.

we went through the same scenario with the SD PVR until MC came clean which ended the debate. But to trot out a range of excuses just does not work.

They could block-remove a lot of channels from day 8 e.g. all the news channels and maybe financial, horse racing, parliament etc, that nobody would ever check for 8th day info. Just switch it on for the entertainment/reality-entertainment channels.

Agree with both of you.

That's a great idea, hope it may do the trick!

Yes this would work and was suggested by someone when this problem surfaced on the SDPVR. Can't remember why it could not be implemented. Surely if all the descriptions can be blocked for day 8 on all channels, then it should be fairly easy to block the data for some channels only?

BTW, anyone who is an etv fan would have noticed the garbage descriptions currently available on the etv channels. Someone has failed to make sure that the correct character code set is being used.

Lots of dubbed series now available from Spain and Eastern Europe and the descriptions are not being fixed before the EPG data is loaded.

I think the previous suggestion was rather to totally remove some channels in a similar way to how the My Channels bouquet works, but maybe I've forgotten other details.

Haven't noticed that on eTV yet, Geoff - I look at it daily, but only the night slots so maybe it's either daytime entries affected or the Explora has an extended character set.

Hello

We can't see any issues with the synopses over the next few days on e.tv, can you give us an example of a programme and time you see the error on. Also, which decoder are you experiencing the issue on?

Right, here are two examples captured on a new series that started on one of the e-tv channels yesterday.

Yes it is on the UEC 4 tuner , and NO the decoder has nothing to do with this problem, it is the data loaded into the EPG stream that is crewed up, either by MC or by e-tv. Notice the funny characters in the descriptions. This example is from the view now and next but the text contained in the description info on the EPG is the same.

Looking at next week's episode on ch. 195 I see it's the same problem on the Explora, and even on the Online Guide...

Hello
Thanks for reporting. We were looking at e.tv. We'll have it corrected now. Apologies for the poor quality of these synopses.
