They did indeed bring a tester of sorts. Apparently " db's were low " 4 instead of 8 or something to that effect. But that's all the info I was able to get

Think I'll take my 2P decoder and others spares through on the weekend and connect it to the installation to see what comes out in the wash. I can then at least potentially eliminate decoder, multiswitch etc. as I go

Okies. After plugging my 2P into the installation, I've eliminated the decoder, the multiswitch and the LNB

Connected the 2P directly to the dish cables, problems remained the same.
Connected the 2P to the multiswitch on the 2 spare ports, problems remained the same
I then changed out the twin LNB, problems remained the same

After putting the old LNB back in place, a little tweaking of the skew angle lead to a big improvement. Now only 3 channels remain unviewable, 104, 106 and 217

Signal strength remains at 98% regardless of polarity. Signal quality however varies between 49% and 100% depending on the channel. The 49% being on one of the previous unviewable channels 113.

Are we still thinking LNB skew angle ? Or dish alignment ? I had a similar issue on my own setup a while back where a single channel was breaking up due to a minor alignment problem

You probaly have in the past informed us of what size antenna you have, but it may be relevant.

If you continue to have this issue, theetre are ONLY two possible causes -

Antenna aligment and skew angle, OR

An issue with how your service has been activated.

A small 60 cm antenna, can and does very often end up being incorrectly pointed. The beamwidth is wide and therefore difficult to optimise the position at the centre of the beam.

The adjustemnt of skew angle is alos more tricky as well.

The use of an FSM may be the only way to get to the bottom of this issue, ( and NOT one of those simple buzzer things either.)

The second [ossibility seems to have been addressed already --- of not take the two decoders to MC, get them to verify service actrivation and decoder working, and tune the ALL channels one by one and check signal strenght and quality
