Not true in this case, keeping the buffer was and is a feature on the SD PVR and then left out on the HD PVRs, and re-introduced on the Explora. So not a reverse engineer feature at all .......

I would like to believe, that customer pressure in this case influenced the design of the Explora .....

The reality is that even though we try to update software of all in-field decoders, certain 'nice-to-have' features introduced in later models will not (and at times cannot) be reverse engineered for earlier model decoders. This is not something that is unique to MultiChoice, this is true of all technology.

That being said the beetle (sdpvr) has abs ( doesn't loose buffer when changing) and a modern golf not?

BTW, I really don't think that MC don't care (except for some of the closer-to-blue-collar workers which is normal in any company). I just think that in the haste to "keep up" sometimes older needs aren't given the priority sometimes needed.

Believe it or not, I'm still often (again) impressed by MC.
