The 24-hour channel will be filled with fresh, brand new shows that are locally produced. Out of the 22 shows that the channel will air from February, 80% are created and produced by Siyaya Media Network specifically for Moja Love. The balance of shows are selected from other African countries and have never aired before on South African screens.

“For us at MultiChoice, it’s important to offer our customers a range of different entertainment options . This channel supports our commitment to investing in the growth of our industry and the promise of more new programming for our customers . We believe Moja Love will provide increased choice for our customers and a home for more local story tellers,” said Yolisa Phahle, CEO for General Entertainment, MultiChoice.

Weird that a channel that will be airing 90% local content (heard this before somewhere) is launched with such a short notice period and without a decent launch campaign.

We've been working on this for quite some time (better part of a year) - they had some glitches which we wanted to address before we announced the launch (as it could've impacted the launch date). That is why it is a much shorter time leading up to the launch but nothing weird or sinister in it. Just practical precautions.

Also, the marketing campaign (including on air and digital) will kick off today.

Maybe also less fuss 'cos it's a more basic FTA channel, like the regional channels such as Gauteng TV.

It is not a free to air channel. If you look at the content, you'll see that they made some excellent, good quality local shows. So certainly nothing like Gauteng TV.

@Optimist was purely speculating.

Apologies for any misdirection on my part, was just going with a logic conclusion about the above statement.

Lol throwing Gauteng TV under the bus.

I've seen a few trailers and clips of rehearsals for Moja Love and it does look like they have quite high production values. It's only a pity that the channel's content will be focussing on such a specific theme like love.

Wow, was I on the wrong track... this channel even comes with a HD version.

Good to see new channels of worth getting that from the start, but don't forget the rest of the HD catching-up that also needs attention MC. We certainly won't.
