Talking 2A and 2p XV Pleasant surprise

I recently re arranged the lounge for better room acoustics. I had to extend the lnb cable for the main (explora 2a) decoder temporarily without the xv cable. I noticed that the secondary decoder HD PVR 2P did not lose connection and stayed connected.

After reboot of the 2p (a couple) and a long disconnection (couple of days) from the mains power and after completing the 2a lnb feed the 2p still stays connected no hb cable. Interesting?

Is it perhaps picking up the heartbeat through the SLNB? I thought it would only be possible with 2 Explora 2a's or the new HD single view decoder. I disconnected my HB cable to see what happens and the HD PVR 2P is still going strong.

Most likely through the lnb (lmx 501). Good to hear that it works for yours as well

It only lasted about a hour before it gave a E243.4 (awaiting communication from primary decoder) error.

Are you sure your XV is setup correctly at MC and that you are not paying for two connections? You can check by powering down the Explora (remove the power cable) to see if it need a HB and if it is setup as a XV decoder. Bear in mind that it may take a while before it realise that the primary decoder is awol.

Yup, did it through self service a couple of months ago. Paying the R874 per month with nothing outstanding. It has been running with no hb for a week now. Not sure if possibly some of the 2p's had a built in diplexer?

Usually half an hour, the hour you experienced is the longest I've heard of so could be a clue that their HB system is wobbly.

No, not possible.

This has happened in the past, so it may just be MC making adjustments or having a fault that's just affecting some.

Do not know of any 2P decoders with internal diplexers.

So check the configuration of the decoders.
The Primary decoder must show that it is the Primary and should say it is transmitting HB and reflect somewhere that its SC is primary linked to the secondary decoder's SC number.
The secondary decoder should say it is secondary linked to the primary decoder SC.
