Hi Doug_Dread

Please see response from Tech Team and advise?

"I checked my Pace 4-tuner HDPVR and I am getting 8 days of TV Guide info.
What decoder is the customer using?
Is the customer still experiencing this problem?
If the problem is still happening can the customer try rebooting their decoder and allowing the box to do a Rescan to see if it recovers?"

Please let me know - thanks!

As the matter transpired above; I'm getting the 8th day program titles, which function was restored after my 1st post. However, I still get no info related to the titles (after pressing the (i) button), and my query now refers to progress wrt restoring the info/descriptions. Ref:

MC Marietjie: This is a compromise to ensure the guide updates on your side and it does not impact your experience too much. If they find another way to save more space, then they will restore the descriptions.

What is so disappointing about this whole matter is how MC appears to deliberately misinterpret the reports. Your query is about the descriptions and detailed info for the 8th day .... It has always been about that, NOT about the rest!

Yet MC will time and again fail to answer. Let's see what the new excuse is going to be.

Before we start throwing stones; I would just like to know the progress and if its dropped off the radar of the techies, please raise the topic with them again.

Folks it seems that for decoders that are in end of support, they're not able to restore the descriptors on the 8th day without the TV Guide failing and the decoder crashing. Am waiting for more info to confirm whether they will be trying to further restore it, given these decoders are in end of support.

The UEC HD PVR 4 tuner is no longer supported.

The PACE HD PVR 4 tuner is still supported.

BUT, I have been reliably informed that the same EPG data stream is used by both. Hence, even if the PACE decoder could handle it, the 8th day descriptions can't be selectively restored on the PACE 4 tuner.

This got confusing back in the day when these changes came.

You may recall it's now only partially, for instance there's no further software development on it.
As I understood it this excludes any fixes other than those deemed absolutely essential, but as you point out it's a paired model complication as well so this point is just for the presumed bigger picture.

Erm... I don't understand.

We had the 8th day info on these decoders until June last year. The 8th day was taken away with the excuse that with the addition of Sundance TV, some limit was reached. Now with the reducing number of channels on premium, we can't still be hitting that limit, can we? There should be capacity again now?

Exactly!
The 8th day worked on both 4 tuner models! Then along comes the June event and out came the standard BS excuse about additional channels, as was the case with the SD PVR.
Now having called their bluff about added channels out comes the next excuse about the decoders no longer being supported. But as I point out, that is not going to work either.
So what is the next one on the list?
MC cannot use the ones they fed us with the SD PVR which are the addition of BO and CU!

So what is left?
If it is the addition of more channels, then the removal of channels should restore the 8th day descriptions.
