Default Oppie Kassie - kykNET

A very interesting documentary started on kykNET on Sunday evening at 20h00 with double episodes. Oppie Kassie tells the history/development of television in SA and contains some really special archive footage and facts I never knew - such as that the grounds purchased for the SABC in Auckland Park and those for Rand Afrikaans University were swapped around at the last minute to accommodate a larger SABC complex to prepare for the arrival of television.

It also explains the unfortunate circumstances in the country at the time which meant even Rhodesia got television long before South Africa.

Unfortunately there are no English sub-titles but I can still highly recommend watching it. It does not appear to be available on CU but the 1st two episodes are repeated at 01H00 and 16H00 on Wednesday.
