Think we had about 20mm? As Orange said it bucketed down for around two hours. Unfortunately the clouds now seem to have moved on and the sun is once again beginning to shine. But at least my grass got to see some water. Oh, there was a very slight bit of rain earlier in the week but nothing really worth mentioning. Today's rain however was a totally different story.

PTA East 42 mm in 40 minutes!

A total outage which lasted the full duration of the storm! The familie looked like their food had been stolen -- No 7de Laan and I was like a bear with a sore head because most of the news broadcasts were also affected.

Noticed some really strange things as well. The SD PVR failed first on both TV1 and TV2. the UEC 4T failed about 2 minutes later. The SD PVR recovered first. BUT TV2 recovered and TV1 remained dead. A reboot was required to restore service on TV1.

Never posted in this thread before, but having a cyclone / tropical depression bearing down on us bears a mention. Guess I'm expecting lots of loss of signal, missing recordings and CU

Hopefully every show I miss the next couple of nights, has a repeat time slot that I can record

Methinks TV would be the last of our worries if it's bad enough

Over the next couple of days, I will be concerned about other things - roof leaking, flooded roads (my manager has said work would be subject to how the weather looks), trees coming down (we have lots on and around our house), cats saftey ... the list goes on. BUT, come Sunday (when it's all supposed to be over), tv will be back on the list

So it looks like the storm has changed direction towards Limpopo, sparing Nelspruit. We had a couple of big gusts of wind early this morning, and are having non stop rain. Given the rain, flooding is still a possibility, but it looks like it was panic for nothing at this point

In Jo'burg it's a bit windy and cool, almost cold, but no rain so far. It does look like we'll get some later.
Back to the TV then...

First actual electric storm in a while.
Big storm head moving over Sandton and Randburg from the South moving slowly North.
There may be some DSTV service interruptions.
Cheers, Sandtonweatherman
