Default Debit Order text message.

1) Why has MC sent me the attached text message when I have always paid by debit order? Did it simply send it out to all users, shotgun style?

2) Why use the horrible abreviation 'ur' in isolation when there is ample space to type the word "your"?

3) Why does MC have the audacity to charge the user a rand to send a text message that benefits MC's cashflow?

Clearly not a well orchestrated campaign!

Cheers, K.

It was a dark and stormy night.
(But because his installation was sound, his DStv reception was perfect.)

I got it too, it seems to be a promotion because there's a prize on offer.

You guys gave MC your cell numbers? Of course they would use the info to spam you, or even sell it on.

I didn't get it, I do pay by debit order, have done for almost 15 years, the ur thing is shocking. The R1 is just plain sad. It's almost as sad as the R2 or so debit order reduction. What's that about a 0.1% "discount" ?

The message just irritates! I DONT believe in debit orders DON'T willingly use them. I DONT trust the companies you give the power over your affairs, I DONT trust the financing industry at all!

I looked for the "opt out" option and could not find it!

I COMPLETELY agree!

MC should offer the easypay.co.za solution like all the other big companies do, I've used that for many years and saved myself sooo much hassle.

And then some banks let you set-up your own "debit orders", completely under your own control online so they're ok in my book. Standard is great for this, except each item expires after a year without warning so you have to remember that much. But it does remind you in good time by email to have enough funds available each month.

Back on topic, please can MC respond to this SMS concern - SMS spam is a pet dislike of mine! Those interested in effectively dealing with this & other cellphone intrusions may want to Google "MCleaner".
