Default The movie called "Life" - strange ending [spoiler alert]

Spoiler Alert! Best not to read further if you still plan to watch this movie.

And later posts may not have spoiler protection.

The sci-fi movie on M-Net last night called Life had a very odd ending IMO, or did I somehow miss something?

Ok, I'm not alone finding that strange and others on imdb.com are less than impressed with the story structure all round:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5442430/...?ref_=tt_ov_rt

At least I found out what was supposed to have happened in his case, but it's totally illogical.
What a shame, looked good but I guess this is what happens with too many horror-based movies.

I also found it strange but I later just convinced myself that the editing was done in such a way as to create a surprise ending.

Sigh. Never watched the movie but this sounds like one of the reasons I'm not too into sci fi in the first place. Too many situations where belief has to be suspended for the sake of "entertainment". But, to each his own.

I thought the ending was so "not Hollywood"...good for them!

Why Illogical Brian? Look at those moments again and you will see what happened.

I thought it made near no sense that this newborn creature could figure out that much Chris, and as someone on IMDb said, the chances of getting the re-entry angle right is ridiculous.
Unless one want to put it down to wisdom via forced "telepathy"...
And how did her automatic re-entry fail??
I'm all for a fresh approach, if it makes enough sense.

Strangely enough my reaction was the opposite, I thought the ending 'twist' was too telegraphed/obvious, at least once the alien grabbed his hands and stopped him adjusting the controls further

Anyway, found that quite unsettling to watch. Standard gory horror movies never did much for me in comparison, despite this movie's flaws I think they did pretty well when it came to the alien and some scenes were rather creepy. We've come a long way from the days of mostly humanoids with plastic masks, like the earlier Treks and shows like Babylon 5 (not that these weren't good in other ways).
