Default Viewing recordings on second TV while watching live TV on first?

How do I view my recordings on another TV while my husband watches sport on the main HD TV? I also have Xtraview. I do pick up this channel, but do not know how to view my recordings on a spare tv.

It was a dark and stormy night.
(But because his installation was sound, his DStv reception was perfect.)

If your husband is watching live TV then there should be no problem with watching recordings via the 2nd TV provided the Xtraview heartbeat cabling allows access to the PVR from the 2nd viewing environment.

Assuming that the decoder is an HDPVR (since you mention HD TV):
If your recordings are on the same HDPVR which your husband uses on the main TV, then you can't watch those recordings on another TV while he watches TV. The HDPVR has only one viewing environment - either TV or Playlist playback at any one time.

What is the other decoder in your Xtraview setup?

Need a little more info from you.

Have you gor 2 decoders connected together and XV coupled under one subscription? If so which two decoders. Two decoders in the same room or in different rooms?

How are the TVs connected to the decoders? is it via a RF connection in another room?

I have a HD PVR, the latest model which records 2 x, HD LCD TV, and a 1110 decoder in the flat, additional TV's in each bedroom in the house. Technically I want to be able to view 4 environments, 1. Live TV, 2. Xtraview, 3. Recorded programme and 4. another recorded programme on different TV's, can this be done and how?

Your combination allows for view 2 and record 2 only.

So with this you can view live TV from both decoders, OR
view one recording form the HD PVR and view one live TV channel from the 1110 decoder, that's it.

If the RF distribution is set up correctly you can view from any of the rooms both decoders.

BUT some rooms will have to put up with what others have selected.

At the moment the only possible combination is view 3 record 3 with a SD and a HD decoder combined with XV.

At the moment it is not possible to combine more than 2 decoders under one subscription.

More viewing environemnts will require a second subscription.

BUT there is news on the way, MC undertook a survey recently to measure the interest in increasing the number of decoders combined under one subscription with XV. So if you are not in a hurry, it may pay to wait and see what happens.

Thank you everyone, what a dissappointment not being able to watch at least 3 different channels on 3 different TV's considering we have Xtraview, even the people without Xtraview and just the HD PVR can view recordings and live.

No not true = those with only the HD decoder can only view either a recording OR live TV.

The SD decoder owners have view 2 and record 1

They can view live TV in one viewing environ and view a recording in another viewing environment.

I think you need to understand what XV is all about. It allows you under one subscription to combine two decoders, that is all it does.
The comdinations are:
SD + HD = V3 + R3
HD+ HD = V2 + R4
HD+ 1110/1131 = V2 + R1
1110 + 1110 = V2

HDPVR2P + SD = not sure if this will work but if it does then = V3 + R2
HDPVR2P + 1110/1131 = V2 + R1
HDPVR2P + HD = V2 + R3
2x HDPVR2P = V2 + R2

In each case except for the SD PVR, if the decoder is busy viewing a recording you lose the ability to view Live TV from that decoder
