Default Important notice about Catch Up changes

We've had to make a few changes to the June and July Catch Up line up. This is due to us hitting capacity on the Explora.

New seasons of the following shows will be moved from Catch Up to Catch Up Plus:

  • Supernatural S12
  • Silicon Valley S3
The following shows are scheduled for Catch Up Plus in June and July.
  • Benidorm S8
  • The Good Place S1
  • Windsor Castle
  • In Plain Sight
  • Madiba
  • The Durrells
  • Red Knot
  • Appropriate Behaviour
  • Ill Futuro
  • Lamb
  • Miss Stevens
  • Music for Mandela
Please refer to the Catch Up calendar on DStv.com for more information.

We were told that the CU capacity is the same as on Explora 1.
Something like half the physical capacity but twice the compression...

Maybe more like 95% as good, or similar, and now getting too close?

Will all the above still be available on Explora 1 CatchUp? Is it not more sensible to have fewer soapie episodes available on CU?

They're evidently more popular
*sigh*

I wonder if they were refering to both Exploras, just refering to Explora 2a now as that's now the "standard"?

Hi Optimist

Thanks Optimist, I just checked with the team again and made tweaks to the notification. The capacity for Catch Up on the Explora and Explora 2 is the same.

Very disappointing.

I filled in a survey not to long ago asking questions about CU relating to the number of episodes available. My answer was that I would perfer less episodes of more series. In other words instead of having 4 episodes available per series, 2 would suffice, allowing space for more series.

Also, I think all the series ending and series available on CU+ are not required and taking up space for actual programmes.

Are you referring to the notifications about what is available? If so, I think those take up hardly any space - removing them will most likely allow for one additional 30-minute program to be added at best.

I've wondered about it as well Mad Cat, have concluded that they make more series episodes available for longer to allow for newbies and those who didn't realise a series was on to catch up.

Re CU+, it doesn't use any of the harddrive space allocated for CU.
EDIT: Or maybe a tiny amount, as Krugie discussed.

I take it then that supernatural season 12 will air in July? Is that correct

This is my feeling as well - even more so with 5 episodes of soapies being available - but I'm sure many other people will feel differently.
