Question New HD PVR 2P - BoxOffice titles and CatchUp disappeared overnight?

Hi there,

This weekend I upgraded our SD decoder with a new HD PVR 2P and installed a new dual LNB at the same time. PVR works great and signal quality is at 100% (98% strength). After activating BoxOffice subscription and leaving the PVR on standby overnight, I started to see BoxOffice and CatchUp title slowly accumulate. Last night there was at least a page of CatchUp titles along with 3 BoxOffice titles. This morning I noticed the PVR was on channel 100 (TV Guide) which was odd as I'd been on MNET (101) when I placed the PVR on standby. We didn't experience a power failure as all other devices were at their last standby state (normally when power fails at least two devices will be on instead of on standby). Anyway, I checked the BoxOffice titles again and nada, just the E01 message. Checking CatchUp also revealed no titles.

Am I correct in assuming that the PVR received a software update last night and thereby erased the BoxOffice and CatchUp titles? If so, is this normal update behaviour?

Thanks,
Byron.

Just reboot the decoder. The same thing happened (no BO or CU content) when my 2P updated (but not on the Pace 4 tuner).

All returned after the reboot.

Thanks for the reply JG. By "reboot" do you mean standby, wait 30 secs then power off by wall; or is there a graceful reboot option?

On the remote:
Press "Shift", then "Help" , then"6"
There's also a reset button on the decoder's front panel.

Standby does shut down the HDD - not sure how long the wait though - BUT only if not EPG updates, BO or CU content is recording in the background.

Naturally make sure there are no user recordings taking place.

No such thing as a graceful reboot for them though - it's always a "surprise" event.

Made me think of something that happened to me years ago when we got our first server with hot pluggable SCSI drives (yes, I meant to say many years...).
I was playing around inside the case, (trying to test this claim) when I ripped out one of the CPUs instead. When the OS started up again, the event log claimed that "The last shut down was unexpected". I bet it was.
