Default No CatchUp and no BoxOffice

My neighbour installed a new flat screen tv (Panasonic 32") and a used HDPVR2. His signal strength is 100% and his update on Automatic. I can not think of another reason why he doesn't have the two features mentioned above. Could anybody please advise?

Does he have a dual LNB (2 cables from the dish)?

He is using a Dual LNB to feed both inputs? What is the signal strength AND quality of Tuner 2? Is it locked?

Must be running 3/2 software; this was the as launched software and was in any case pre-box office general release.
It will not have series recording either.
Current version is 21/2 AFIK.

If signal quality and strength close to 100% on tuner-2 the upgrade should take place immediately and without issue. That's assuming that the 21/2 software is always available on the download stream?

There is another forumite, ivanr, post #147 onwards here http://forum.dstv.com/showthread.php?t=9044&page=15 who was also struggling to upgrade from 3/2 to 21/2, then it simply worked; so maybe the download is only available from time-to-time to reserve the bandwidth for other use??? MC please comment on bolded text.

Cheers, K.

Yes, he has a double lnb. The signal strength is 98% and the quality is 100%. I also suspected the software, but to tell the truth I do not know where to check it. Could you enlighten me, please?

Found it! Sorry, couldn't see the wood for the trees! I must amend my original post in that my neighbour's setup does display BoxOffice and CatchUp but with no programs in it. It actually says "No Programs found" or something like that. Is this a new problem?

My own HDPVR2 gives the Software as "Unknown 1.14.5.225 D129100RL2 111.35.10R." All the references I've read talks of 3/3 or 3/10. Which part are they referring?

Hi Worxfan, with the remote control, key....

Menu
Information Central
Hardware Status

Then scroll right to the 'Loader Status' tab.

The third line of this busy page is "Load Ver/Var" (21/2 is the latest version)

Box office and catch-up titles load over several days from the decoder being commissioned. It's typical to have nothing for the first day. Check after a day or so, the titles should be trickle-feeding down provided there is a good signal on Tuner-2 (around 90% strength and close to 100% quality -- quality is the critical factor and the reading for both strength and quality should be steady; not varying wildly) Cheers, K

As Nic very rightly points out in his sticky, with the 2P, all recording as well as Box office and catch-up come via Tuner-2. So if your neighbour has scheduled lots of recordings, then these take precedence over box office and catch up downloads.

So advise him to leave the PVR fairly idle from a recording perspective for a couple of days and check whether the Boxoffice and catch-up titles come down.

Also, In order to check the Signal Satatus, key the following from the remote control.

MENU
INFORMATION CENTRAL
SIGNAL STATUS
scroll right to display Tuner-2 on the 2P (Tuner-4 on the 4-Tuner Pace and the UEC)
Take Note of the Signal Strength and quality. Wait a while and be sure it does not vary wildly up and down. It should be pretty constant. (strength around 90%, quality upper 90s% (as close as possible to 100% for both for a trouble free installation)

Cheers, K

What error do you see?
Also when was the decoder connected as it does take a few days for all the titles to show
