Default World Snooker Championships

Is anyone within SuperSport even considering showing the World Snooker Championships this year?

Top quality snooker is made for TV.

Would be great but we've been asking for it to come back for years so doubt it - not enough percentage-of-subscribers interest in this country, and now the economy...

Well the rand is at the strongest it's been for a while now. To the dollar that is. Think all payments are made in dollars?

But yes, I would like to add my voice to those who would like to see some snooker on our screens again. Supersport please consider. Thanks.

Unfortunately these rights are already with another broadcaster who have a multi-year deal.

Does this other broadcaster show it in South Africa? If not what's to stop you trying to buy the rights from them so that it can be shown here?

I know that if I was a company who bought the rights for the whole of Africa but didn't have a footprint in certain African countries and they approached me for the rights to show the content in that area I'd consider "cashing in".

Don't the 'rights to show" everything on DSTV belong to others until you buy in?

Really miss watching the Snooker World Championships. Sure, you won't get as many viewers as (eg) Man U vs Tottenham tonight, but then the cost of the rights is a tiny fraction of that.

Ah well, hope it returns to our screens one day!

There are going to be people watching man u playing Tottenham tonight? Why? Watch Tottenham ok but otherwise I can go down to my nearest bus station and look at the parked busses.

Sorry, couldn't resist that.

Come on MC how about at least trying to get the snooker for us starving of snooker viewers. As Doug_Dread said, "Don't the 'rights to show" everything on DSTV belong to others until you buy in?"
