Thumbs down Ads now interrupting M-Net Movies

This was paused at around 12 minutes into what I think is a repeat of the Christian movie The Shack on ch. 104. (Started @ 22:00 on Sat.)

IMO it looks like they picked a less popular genre late at night to sneak in this presumed experiment - note the timing for this car ad, while another yuppie vehicle is seen in the movie.

You do it to yourselves...

This is not right! Stop this immediately. We pay for premium, there should be no interruptions in our viewing for goodness sake!!

What IS going on at Multichoice/Mnet? Things appear to be rapidly going downhill. Placing adverts during movies is a definite NO NO!!! Want to lose subscribers then make this a regular during your movie broadcasts. Unlike sports packages which are difficult to stream legally movies are readily available from a number of sources. So beware you don't try the patience of your subscribers too much or you'll be seeing a number moving elsewhere for their entertainment.

Wow. If this starts happening during movies it could be the final nail in the coffin for our Premium subscription, since the demise of Edge we already watch a lot less than before. The intrusive logos ruining the pop-up channels were bad enough.

I've since at least seen it's not on the CU copy (expires late tonight).
And a correction - the scene where it appeared is after 10 minutes.

@M-Net Group - a reminder that you promised years ago to never show any ads during movies... which you already broke a while back, and then the forum members etc. reprimanded you for that...

You've already got to the point where everything you now do these days is contemplated with mistrust.
Methinks certain big companies think they can rewrite the rule book in order to take very few knocks in low economic periods - as you're maybe seeing by now; nope.
More excessively mechanical thinking, sad really.

Would someone from either DStv or Mnet kindly care to comment? Seems like whenever you get caught out in something that doesn't go down well with your valued subscribers you revert to hiding behind some secrecy story or other and don't give a response?

Can you kindly advise if this is something that we, your valued subscribers, don't need to worry about and that this advertising during movies is not going to happen or .... it is?

Once again a very simple question which doesn't need much investigation for you to answer.

There's a fine balance when it comes to confronting a business in public. I'm just hoping we've got the message across well enough to have put a stop to that, but certainly can't see them making any such commitments or commenting about their business stratergy...

I suggest we move on, this can be tackled on the new forum if need be. Let's hope not...

Folks I've just received this response from M-Net:

M-Net Movies has always had sponsorships elements (straps) on the channels, the use of straps is totally different from adverts. Adverts usually interrupt the viewing experience for 30 seconds to a minute and straps are scheduled for 10 seconds during the movie.

This month M-Net Movies had a Jaguar sponsorship in the form of straps, opening billboards, and closing billboards from 9-15 April and this agreement will be on again from 7-13 May.

Jaguar has already paid for this sponsorship therefore it canít be changed as there is an agreement in place. The agreement involves the below elements:

- Opening billboard
- Closing billboard
- Strap

The opening billboard flights just before the movie starts. The straps is scheduled to flight 10 minutes into the movie for 10 seconds while the movie is playing and closing billboard when the movie ends.
