Hi whovians!

I'm also terribly frustrated by this. Sent BBC two messages through their website and every time they reply it is not on their schedule at this time. What's worse, they would suggest the drama series Doctor Foster as an alternative. Very frustrated!!! Just read the TV with Thinus article. (Thanks for the share, Krugie.) I think DSTV should reduce all subscriptions, because this rebranding channels and then promoting old content as "new" is a trend that we have seen for a couple of years now. It's like "Price Lock" but with content. This can't be regarded as fair on the consumer/subscriber.

Also, I don't think there is a need to have both BBC First and BBC Brit, if old content like Luther, Sherlock, Doctor Who are repeatedly broadcasted on BBC First. (For the last year or so they have repeated these three shows) If DSTV and BBC like rebranding so much, BBC First should be entirely dropped from bouquet and all content should rather moved to BBC Brit; lifestyle related content on BBC Brit can then move to BBC Lifestyle. If they want to change the names of the channels to continue this farce; it's their choice. BBC First was sold as a channel that will provide new content. In fact, I just checked the website and this is the first line of their welcome on the website: "Welcome to BBC First – the home of premium drama from the BBC. Enjoy all new shows brought to you first". Maybe it should rather say "enjoy a couple of new or new-ish shows if you're lucky". The BBC through its BBC First offering sold us a false impression (if not a lie) with its relaunch. This channel should just be cancelled.

This is from the Doctor who Wikipedia page

Doctor Who is one of the five top grossing titles for BBC Worldwide, the BBC's commercial arm.[137] BBC Worldwide CEO John Smith has said that Doctor Who is one of a small number of "Superbrands" which Worldwide will promote heavily.

And yet we don't get any.

Superbrands cost superbucks. SA is now a poor nation, and Africa is not nearly as interested in british programs as the rest of the western world. Sad but true.
