Default Unusual new channel - possibly for some in S.A.?

Disclaimer: This is only speculation posted out of general interest, unless MC choose to discuss it.

There's 2 new channels on the decoders, both are for a new season of Big Brother Angola!

It's starting tomorrow night @ 22:00 but it doesn't look like it's for most in S.A., possibly for none of us, as although it's in the All Channels bouquet on HD PVRs it's only in the Portuguese bouquet on SD decoders.

What I have found out is that it's not for all other countries on the IS 20 satellite we use, but it's also interesting to note that Angola uses the other satellite for more northern Africa, E36B...

So what this is suggesting to me is that either S.A. M-Net are controlling it and want wide access for that, or it is being made available to S.A. Portuguese bouquet subscribers (Portuguese is Angola's official language).

The Big Brother Angola channels will be available to all DStv Portuguese subscribers regardless of the country they live in.
Iglf you really want to catch the show, you can add the Portuguese bouquet as a bolt on before the action begins.

Interesting, then something is wrong with the statement you've read or with the way it's been set up - try removing your smartcard, the channels will disappear. Only the channels that remain are coded for all countries.

Maybe it's just some countries that don't have any real Portuguese interest that are excluded. I was able to double check with someone in one of them, they're not shown among the channels in Swaziland.

Anyway, just a curiosity for most I would think.

I see now that it is only available in Angola, Mozambique and South Africa.

Ok, so then just for S.A. on our satellite as Mozambique is the most southern country on the other one.

Interesting how much we are able to work out.

Big Brother Angola is available to all DStv Portuguese subscribers in South Africa. And then also on the Portuguese packages throughout Africa.
