Default Chromecast support for Tablet App

Hi Everybody, please move this if I am posting in the wrong category, wasn't sure where to put this.

Is there any chance that Multichoice will consider adding Google Chromecast support to their tablet apps for Catch Up or Box Office? There is a lot more content available on the web than on my PVR, and watching it on TV with the family definitely trumps watching it alone on my PC or tablet.

Thanks!

Hi superjakes,

Welcome to the forum

The issue of "airplaying" content from tablets to external devices isn't as much a technological issue as it is a content licensing issue.

We'd love to be able to offer the ability to stream content from tablets/phones to TVs etc, but the studios have these rights locked down and require additional licence fees to be paid for this functionality. Believe it or not, they view this as ANOTHER viewing environment and will charge for it.

At the moment it's not economical for us to do this. (But between you and me, though, you can plug your PC into your TV with an HDMI cable or similar and watch things that way).

Stay tuned, though, we have some great new services and features coming in the next few months that will make Catch Up a whole lot more "accessible" across various devices.

/MC Nic.
