It's started doing this today on our explora, both playlist and catchup. Disovered after a bit of experimentation that if you hit "i" (to bring up the i-plate) and then "return", the play icon & time-to-go info vanishes. Obviously this is irritating and shouldn't be necessary. It's a bug.
DStv Premium. 80 cm dish, smart LNB; Explora 1 with HDMI (picture) and optical fibre (sound) connections to Marantz NR1501 5.1 AV receiver; HDMI passthrough to Sony Bravia TV with Full HD; Jamo surround speakers. Plus 4136 on XtraView.

I did try what you did before the reset to default, it didn't want to work
