Default Unannounced Software Update

Tonight, at about 01.00am my decoder received another software update. So far as I can make out, there was no prior notice given. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to have interfered with any recordings.

Both my Exploras also received a software update at 03:00 this morning!

Also not aware of any prior announcement for this one!

Folks this software is to fix a log in issue with ShowMax. So it was only announced to customers who use ShowMax on their Exploras. Nothing else.

Identity details of the update:

Help \ General Information \ Loader Status - Load ver/var: 67/2

The new "nickname" for it that is seen elsewhere is "Seoul", but note that sometimes more than one update continues over a time period to use a same new name.

That is all very well to announce it only to those that use Showmax IF the update only targets those customers. BUT IF the sw update is in any case a general one, then all users should be made aware of it.

I thought that you were meant to be able to set the time for updates to happen via the Maintainance reboot time. I had recordings that were interrupted due to this update that does not effect me at all. It is very annoying.

This was a reboot caused by a software update, which is not affected by the maintenance reboot time. As for MC saying the update only affected ShowMax subscribers - what a stupid statement. All Explora users are affected by this update. It only benefits the ShowMax users.

But I agree that updates should never interfere with recording schedules.

@MC - why is this happening to some? I got the update as part of my maintenance reboot this morning @ 06:32, saw it happen.
Could it be those who previously had a manual update for the earlier issue - on some sort of internal list that triggered it earlier? If so, I don't think that could include Elizabeth as she hasn't been around much for months.
