if you use a diplexer ensure the cable length is not longer than 20m and you need to make sure you connect the diplexer correctly. both the new and old Lmx 500 and 501 allow heartbeat signal using diplexers.

The other point I picked up here is I am not sure if one of the Explora 2A's is the Primary decoder?

I seem to recall that MC stated the Primary decoder must be an Explora 2A in the 3 decoder combination. ?

I also got that impression somewhere and asked in the XV x 3 thread, but it's not the case;

Can confirm that primary decoder can be Explora. That is how my 3 viewing environments Xtra View is configured.

when using Diplexers I recommend that the primary be the explora 2 as it has amplification on the lnb port, however when running the conventional rf in or out method for distribution ,than it doesn't matter

Hi MC Field Services

Please can you assist me with the a similar query. I'm a newbie and i think im missing a step or something here

Proposed set up
1 x Explorer 1
2 x Explorer 2 (the new one)
Smart LNB

All 3 decoders will connect to the SLNB via unicable to the port marked "unicable in"

the part im stuck on is the heartbeat cable? which ports and which decoders does the heartbeat connect to?
And if i use the diplexer on the Explorer 1, how does this fit in the set-up?

i currently have an SDPVR + HDPVR xtraview set up so all cables are already laid. If needed, i will get the diplexer tomorrow.

Please specify port names in reply

thanks alot!

Thee are two ways to run the HB cable. It all depends on what you want to do with RF distribution to other rooms and if you want to e able to view any decoder anywhere and if you want the decoders installed in different rooms.

The diplexer is only required for the Explora 1 and is installed behind the Explora 1 , and is only required IF you want to distribute HB via the LNB cabling instead of using a separate HB cable connecting the decoders together.
