Default Wifi Connector and manual IP settings

Hi there

I made the choice to configure the Ethernet settings on my Explora decoder to "Manual" and thus enter in IP addressed, gateways, and DNS server settings...

This all works perfectly.... for a day...

overnight, the decoder reverts ALL of the manual settings to 0.0.0.0 and thus the connector will not connect to my wifi.

The decoder will also not allow me to revert to DHCP settings, insisting that I stay with manual. Recapturing the manual settings allows me to connect the decoder to the internet yet again... until the next day... deva vu...

Initially thought this error was decoder specific, but had to replace my Explora about a month ago due to the HDMI port giving up the ghost.. the new decoder exhibits the same behaviour. Anyone else seen this ??

One thing that may help revert to DHCP - one of the resets to factory defaults, but careful which you choose to experiment with as I'm sure you don't want to delete unwatched recordings.

Also have a look at the related tutorials on channel 197 in case you've missed something (it's split up into 2 parts for the 2 different types of router in use).

More would probably have to come from MC.

Its simple. The daily maintenance reboot upsets the apple cart, every single day.

Why this should be so, only MC can determine. Does seem to be completely unnecessary.

Ran trial run on my daughters Explora ......

Hi Houstoce,

This issue was resolved in the previous software release.
Could you kindly advise which decoder you are seeing this issue on, is it on the DStv Explora or DStv Explora 2?
Please also note that Manual IP Settings are not retained after a reboot.

Mpho, your team's answer appears very odd so I must ask - what was resolved if the manual settings are still not retained? Maybe the ability to revert to DHCP and @Houstoce's software is possibly not up to date?
And, what is the point of manual settings if they can't last overnight?

Agreed - that is a serious shortcoming.

No, I think it has to be a bug. There's no ways it would have been designed that way and there haven't been similar issues reported before this.

I'm still reasonably confident - the Explora family is MC's flagship, I'm sure they must know that every resource possible is needed yesterday to get over all of this now, and hope that the development pushers on the business side, however good their intentions are, have had their brakes firmly applied by now.

I guess you are correct - but I also suspect very few people use the manual settings si it could have been around for a while.
