Anyone found the same issue?
Yep! I thought I was the only one.

Otherwise, I agree with Sandtonman: love the MC PVR remotes because I almost never have to actually look at them while using them. It's all do-able by feel.

I was looking for a universal remote too and looked at those Harmony remotes but they cost mega bucks! After using the A3 remote there is no way I'l replace it, I got a drawer full of replaced remotes and dread the day my A3 breaks and I have to set up a new remote with all the cool settings and macros I made.

Is there a way to "back up" ones remote?

sounds like I am of the only guys still with the original remotes as supplied with the decoders ( even the original SD remotes which caused such endless fights in the beginning)

The only back up I know of is the one advocated by C4 ( original remotes carefully locked away)

PS: changed the batteries in the SD remotes last weekend after 2 years of solid use!

Geoff, hah, my SD remotes are still on original batteries with daily use and I have not broken a toggle yet!

So many years, and we wait so patiently for updated software...

I second being impressed with the remote functions - I can finally control the volume on my ancient Yamaha receiver through the same remote. The volume relay feature is also terific! Great to see that certain logical standards are supported and adhered to.

+1 for C4 and his remotes! Now maybe he should develop the HD PVR software

The current remote has no serious flaws that I am aware of, but we need to introduce some adjustments to accommodate future interface changes...
I am also getting rid of the dial and hopefully will be able to introduce an LED display...
C4, How opportune to be discussing the design & function of the "new" remote at proposal stage!

I am sure that most of the male members of the Forum will join with me in urging you to include the functionaly of the attached remote, widely available in the UK for the sum of GBP 3.99 (around R 45).

A bargain and would boost MC sales extensively if its "special" functionality could be included as standard!

Suspect that MCA itv would be less supportive about the inclusion of this functionality :-)

Cheers, K
