Default SD 1110 (+2) & Ellies Remote control (BPUNIRM) not working

After the dog consumed the original remote control, we bought an Ellies BPUNIRM remote control which worked fine. By about 28 November 2011 it stopped working, and did the battery replacement thing etc and eventually decided that the couple of dog teeth marks was the reason for it not working.

We stay in the platteland and after a trek to the city on a Saturday I came back with a brand new BPUNIRM. Batteries in - not working. New batteries - not working.

Phone Ellies on Monday, only to learn about Multichoice software upgrade causing the remote to be not functional. Thanks Multichoice for letting us know.

So Multichoice, are your going the upgrade the software again to make the Ellies remote controls functional again, or how do you plan to rectify this?

What your recommended remedy to this problem?

Hi Draadloos and welcome to the Forum; but I think you (or your dog ) have got the wrong end of the stick, pal.
Ellies must upgrade the remote's firmware to keep it compatible with MC's decoders; not the other way around. Not MC's problem to fix or notify anyone.
Failing that, buy a genuine MC replacement remote. Cheers, K

The problem is not MC but Ellies and their Clone hardware not following the MC remote protocol which happened to work. MC did some code work and the originals still work. Therefore the clone manufactures need to fix their stuff. Rather look at using a Remote TV Link.
