Lightbulb Back-to-back recordings - a crazy idea?

@MC - with any "perfectly" fitting back-to-back recordings one often has the concern / dilemma that the second recording may / does start slightly early, or clocks involved may not be that accurate, while at the same time the first recording usually has quite a lengthy trail period with things like promos.

So how about adding a negative "-1" and maybe "-2" option for the individual schedules' "Safety Net End" edit setting on the Explora?

Would really be interesting to hear what other Forumites may think of this as well?

Another option would be that the decoder picks up that the recordings are back to back and record it as one continuous recording with an automatic bookmark inserted where the new recording was meant to start. The draw-back would be that you can not delete only one of the two recordings.

Do overseas PVR software have the same issues? I would have thought that by now it is possible for the 2nd recording to start the instant the first one finishes without even a 1 second loss.

That would work with back-to-back on the same channel, but if there's a channel change in the process we could still miss out on the very beginning of the second recording.

EDIT: If the decoder had the ability to instantly switch-over it may also not help in this instance.

True... I guess the only real solution in such a case would be a record-2 functionality since programs also sometimes start slightly earlier than scheduled or overrun.
