Thanks Sandtonman and will await the publishing of your comment with the link.

Well, finally Sparky's got the boot. But it should have happened before the Chelsea fiasco. To then lose against Newcastle and Coventry was way too late. He should have gone 2 weeks ago giving a new manager some time to spend with the team. It's less than 5 days before our next game against MU and still no appointment. I don't even know who the caretaker manger is. What really got to me was his arrogance declaring himself "the best man for the job" (or words to that effect) I've heard Martin O'Niell is in the mix for the job. I'd seriously welcome that.

On another note, I have to agree with the general sentiment that players are falling over far too easily in the box. You don't see players going down that easily outside the area. Hopefully the introduction of the VAR system might rectify this, but I don't know if it covers penalty awards. I hope so, and if it proves a player effectively "dived" in the box, they should be docked a week's wages which would go some way to appease Beetle and his "overpaid sissie boy" campaign.

I'm from the "old" school when goalkeepers, as an example, weren't as protected as they are these days. I can remember watching a game of football at Hartleyvale and saw the goalkeeper, Trevor Gething was his name - if memory serves me correctly, getting bumped with the ball into his own goals. The goal stood. Lots of shoulder to shoulder contact allowed and the game was none the worse for it. The laws, or rather the interpretation of them, leave a lot to be desired. If a defender placing his hand(s) on an attacker were blown up for every corner or free kick into the penalty area that was taken there'd be a penalty for every one.
But, yes Chris, hopefully the VAR system will go some way to stop this nonsense.
Anyone see the Holgate of Everton push on Firmino? Red card, yellow card or no action to be taken?

Liverpool They go and beat the unbeaten Man City last week and lose against last place Swansea. I was having so much fun reading the Liverpool loss on Social media this morning

BB, any thoughts - remember hitting the bar does not count as a goal. End result was 1-0 to Swansea

See the Proteas are leading India 2-0 in the tests. Can we not rather focus on that? PLEASE!!!!

Very disappointed with both the result and the performance against Swansea. Full marks to them. They, like most sides that play us these days did a Jose mourinho and parked the bus. Believe they played a 1-5-4-1 formation. 5 Across the back and we were mostly unable to penetrate. When we did we couldn't score from a couple of good situations. No pluses for me to take from the game but quite a few tissues.

Now can we please drop this discussion and rather talk cricket? 😂

I'm just wanting to thank my "friends" on the Forum for not attacking me over this past week. It's been a very sorry time for me and I'm still in recovery mode. Losing to Swansea and then West Brom hasn't done my pride any good. It's not so much the losing that's affected me but rather the quality of football that we ...... played?

So, especially to Toto and Flynn, thank you for keeping quiet over these past few days.

YNWA.

Football discussions are now officially opened once again. Liverpool 3 Huddersfield 0. Unless, of course, Sandtonman closes it down once again. Swansea 3 Arsenal 1.

I would hate to be following one of the lower league sides at this time. One win, or loss, and you can be well clear of the relegation zone or right down amongst the bottom three. Only a couple of points between the .... second? bottom side and one around midtable. Interesting days lying ahead.

Hey, HELLOOOOOO!! Look who popped out of the woodwork? Obviously posted BEFORE getting beat by Spurs.

I wasn't pointing fingers at anyone with that comment about sides lower down in the league. Was simply stating that there's so many sides at the moment who could find themselves in the relegation zone should they suffer even one loss. Or manage to climb should they win even one game. It's a dog eat dog situation there and every point is priceless.

Back to Spurs beating united. Can see the same happening between Spurs and Liverpool. I'll be very surprised, and happy, should we manage to pick up even one point from that game. Can see Spurs midfield, who link up very well with their front runners, overrun the Liverpool midfield with their superior creativity and movement. Hope I'm wrong but I'm not expecting much.

Guessing a score draw in the Spurs Liverpool game. In Liverpool's current form they seem to have more attacking resources, but also more clowns in defense.
