Thank you Solomon for working out what happened and why.

BUT really MC, do you really think this is an accepted business practice?

To assume because an account is in credit and that there is a decoder not activated on someone's account, that that gives you the right to automatically activate it on your system and start charging for it without ANY direct communications with a client? That particular decoder was in a box in a cupboard!

As it is it took me 3 weeks to realise something was going on.

Someone senior in MC owes me an explanation!

Besides the fact that I had a credit balance of R4602.45 before this and now my account is at R4525,06. Presumably MC thinks it is acceptable that a customer should PAY for internal snafus of this sort?. A refund of the R 77,39 is expected and due please!

We acknowledge that this came from our side. The charged amounts will be credited back into your DStv account by tomorrow. This was a rare incident and the Business is working on minimizing the potential of such from happening in future.

Thank you for the assurance that it is being attended to. And for the refund.

BUT I still do not understand the logic behind this idea, rare or not, it is an unacceptable business practice. I cannot see any reason to have such a "feature".

I fully agree with you on that one, this should not happen. A reconnection of services should be done solely at customer's request and not as a result of technical problems
